Guide for Living in TAFA

The city of Tianjin has a history of 610 years, from 1404, the 2nd year of Yongle Emperor’s reign in the Ming Dynasty, to 2014. Tianjin is the largest coastal open city in north China, and also the center of the Bohai Economic Circle with a mixture of Chinese and Western as well as ancient and modern elements.

It boasts the Ancient Culture Street, a treasured place with rich historical associations and cultural characteristics, where you can enjoy three unique cultural products of Tianjin, painted clay figurines, Yangliuqing New Year Pictures, and Wei’s kites. It has an Italian-style architectural complex, the only one in Asia, where you may have a special feeling of the blending of Eastern and Western cultures. There are also the “Five Great Avenues”, an architectural complex of foreign Western-style architectures best preserved in China. In these avenues there are more than 2,000 garden houses of various styles of different countries built in the 1920s and1930s, including the Renaissance, classical, eclectic, baroque, courtyard architectures and architectures of Chinese and Western styles combined. Hence this area is called the world architecture exposition, and the people who love art must enjoy themselves so much here as to forget to go home.
